Homicide Investigation
March 26, 2024

On Friday, June 30th, 2023 at about 1:54 AM, the Jackson County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting there was an unresponsive male party in a vehicle in the parking lot of Jimmy’s InBetween Gentlemen’s Club on US Highway 12 in the Township of Alma, Jackson County, WI. Sheriff’s Deputies and Black River Falls Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and determined the male party was deceased.
 
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation have determined that the death of Andrew J. Frechette was a homicide. The homicide investigation remains ongoing.

1989 Homicide-Sheboygan County
October 05, 2023

The Jackson County Crime Stoppers is sharing the below information regarding a 1989 homicide which occurred in Sheboygan County as the victim lived the Black River Falls area in the early 1980’s. It is believed that people with information about this case and/or involved parties may still have ties to Jackson County.
 
On Thursday, August 10th, 1989, Rhys Pocan, a 35-year-old, Native American woman was abducted while walking along National Avenue in the City of Milwaukee around midnight. Rhys was murdered and dismembered. Her head and hands were later located by hunters in Vernon Marsh, which is a public hunting ground, located in Waukesha County. Rhys’s torso was found in Nichol’s Creek, which is a public hunting ground, located in Sheboygan County.

Mailbox Damage
June 14, 2023

Jackson County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect(s) and vehicle involved in damaging numerous mailboxes in Jackson County. On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, after 9:45 pm, over 50 mailboxes were damaged with a baseball bat. The area targeted was north of County Road P, south of Green Acres Road and East of Rose Hill Road. These combined damages are estimated to be over $2,500.00 dollars and is a crime.

Numerous witnesses have come forward and believe the vehicle to be a silver car with distinct tail lights and being occupied by at least two individuals.

Property Damage to Traffic Signs
June 03, 2023

Jackson County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect(s) and vehicle(s) involved in damaging road signs in Jackson County. Between June 3, 2023, and June 8, 2023, traffic and ATV signs were damaged and stolen along Bell Mound Forest Rd, Hunter Haven Rd, and Stanton Creek Rd in the townships of Brockway and Millston. The Hunter Haven Rd and Stanton Creek Rd signs are missing along with a stop sign. As seen below, some of the signs were shot with a firearm.

Property Damage

In May, a vehicle driving off road caused damage to fields, yards, and wooded areas. The damaged field pictured below occurred in the area of French Creek Rd, near Taylor. Other property damaged occurred off of Blackberry Rd and County Rd D and West Indies Rd, outside of Melrose.

Theft of Fuel at Strawberry Square in Alma Center
February 09, 2023

Jackson County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the driver and vehicle owner involved in a theft of fuel at Strawberry Square in Alma Center, Jackson County, Wisconsin. On February 9, 2023, a female pumped fuel at the business and left without attempting to pay for the fuel. The vehicle appeared to be Pontiac Grand Prix with black rims and had a light-colored trim running down both sides of the windshield to the front headlights. The vehicle had no plates.
